Jon, check out the link I posted in my reply to Freddy, above. It's a series of exercises that Godfrey over at DPR wrote up a while ago, I use them and they've helped greatly.

Haha. I started using AF on a Canon Rebel 35mm slr. It failed half my shots and I've been shooting manual focus ever since.

I had a look at Godfrey's exercises and they look pretty good. You get to practice in a stable and calm environment.

Now I understand You, -=JoN=-.
I just got my M 50/f1.4. I'll have to practice more and more to get image nice and focused!
But I'm simply amazed how fast is this lens, I now i can forget about using flash indoors!
The DOF is extremely narrow at 1.4!
