Finally upgraded my lens

I finally upgraded my Sigma 70-300 to the pentax 150 - 450. It's been a rainy day all day and the lens showed up about 3 hours ago. I got to take a few photos in less than ideal conditions and I can say, I'm impressed. Even in the low light conditions and through a window, my pictures came out great I think. These are all SOOC.

Impressive, especially under those conditions! Congrats in getting such an outstanding lens. How do you find the lens for size and handling? As a general rule, I add my battery grip for larger lenses if I'll be having the camera in hand for long during the action while waiting for shooting opportunities to occur.

I think it'll take some getting use to. My first time ever with a lens this big. I might consider a monopod to pack along. Maybe they make a Monona that doubles as a walking stick...

Love your puppy shot - looks like a hybrid of several of ours over the past 40 years! (Currently on rescue dog #7)

Thanks. She's actually a border collie. And she's 3 so that's her adult form heh.

Of course, but at our place, all the dogs are "puppies"!

The first few look a tad soft, the last 2 look better, maybe technique with a new and a large and fairly heavy lens, make sure the shutter speed is above ideally 1/500th sec when handholding, a monopod is always useful and hone your technique and you've enough DOF ( depth of field ) to cover your subject.

Monopod makes shooting with this heavy boy a great experience. You can hand hold but your shoulders will thank you with the monopod. I had a Neewer trip that had a detachable monopod/walking stick, veery convenient.
