Thanks for all the work and effort.
Good to know that I can keep mine with no GAS attack in sight.

Very small difference, indeed no reason to retire the SMC FA limiteds just yet. I'll save up for the 21mm then...

Although my black SMC FA43 is spending most of its time proverbially glued on my full spectrum converted K-3 II with a IR-filter installed. So there could be an opening for a silver HD FA43 for parallel use on my silver K-3 III...

The silver 43 is beautiful, and quite an eye-catcher for such a small lens!

Thanks Bernard!
I love starbursts and quite surprised to see how good they were on the HD variant. Yes you need to stop down a bit more perhaps but to me the HD actually looked a bit cleaner than on the SMC (due to less flare by the looks of it).
In any case I'm happy to stick with my current SMC lenses but if I was buying now I would seriously consider the HD variant.
Yeah, I'm considering the HD version now for the 31 just to reduce that flare. I've been wanting a 31 for a while, now I've got an excuse.

I think the flare test images for the FA43 are a better judge of starbursts than the dedicated starburst test.

Based on this review If I were buying new limiteds today, here are my preferences:

31 - SMC
43 - SMC
77 - HD

I prefer the bokeh and highlights roll-off in the 31 HD.
Now I need the money
Thanks again!
Same here on both points. That's the reason we have a raffle now

That's one reason I supply many images, they can serve more than one purpose.
