SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.7 on Vivitar 2x Macro-Focusing Teleconverter

This is an impressive teleconverter. I have two versions of it - green lettering and blue lettering. The blue seems to be optically better, but (of course) I have no reason to attribute that to anything other than a better copy.

I found it to work very well with my SMC-A 50mm 1.7. Here is a cropped, but otherwise unedited, photo I took with the combo, and an extreme crop to show the bee detail.

Nice shots!

I had one of these back in film days and can attest to both its quality and usefulness. I used it with on 50mm and 28mm lenses for macro shots and on longer lenses for more telephoto.

One added benefit of the design is that it can provide a closer minimum focus distance on older telephoto lenses that could only focus to 5 or 10ft.

Love the 50mm F1.7

That lens is great and I am very pleased to report it was my lens of choice when I took the first photos of my newly born grandson. Still a great lens!

Thank you!

I've found that the bokeh it gives is almost like an Expressionist painting - it's very beautiful.

It is pretty fantastic - works quite well on my K-1.

Sounds like fun. I will have to get one the next time the opportunity arises.

They were / are, as seen on that auction site, and various other places.

I think it's worth it, especially combined with older manual lenses.
