Pentax 24-70 vs. Tam 38-75

I have a line on a local FA 24-70. I currently use a Tamron 28-75 which I'm happy with. I'm wondering if it be worthwhile to switch. It's my main lens and I like the fact the Tamron is lighter, but how do they compare in IQ?

i have both if you are talking about the dfa 24-70. I had the tamron and still do then acquired the 24-70. The 24-70 IQ is way better and i like colour rendition more. But the plus is the tamron is way lighter. So room for both

Yes, the D FA 24-70mm. If I went that route, I would prefer to sell the Tamron to recoup some of the cost (I've bought a few lenses and a new to me IR camera... wife is going to kill me).

Well, do not move to K-1 II. The funds for that move put that to the DFA 24-70. Gives you the opportunity of not selling the Tamron.

When I bought the K1 (instead of ... a D810), one of the reason was that I already had the Tamron 28-75, the Tamron 70-200 2.8 and the DFA100. But, when I compared images shot with both my Tamron 28-75 and Pentax D-FA 24-70, the 24-70 was significantly sharper at edges and corners (at least the copy I tried was much better). So I sold my Tamron 28-75 and bought the Pentax 24-70. That said, I also bought the Pentax D-Fa 28-105, and my copy is sharper than my D-FA 24-70. The D-FA 28-105 is also cheaper and perhaps even smaller than the Tamron 28-75.

I have both. They are both nice. I think the DFA 24-70 is superior, and it has weather sealing. At this point, I really don't use the Tamron. If I'm looking for light with my K-1 II, I put on my DFA 28-105.

The Tamron 28-75 is a very good studio lens on a K1-II. Bought mine new in 2007 and a few film bodies and 11 DSLRs later, it still pays the bills. I can't kill it.

On APS-C the Pentax 17-70 is also very good and better, throughout it's range. Workhorse lenses.
