What busy bokeh? I think you're confusing it with the SMC 21mm.

My conclusion after writing the Pentaxforums review is that SMC owners should just keep their lenses, except if flare bothered them in the past.

HD vs. SMC Pentax FA Limited Lenses Review - Introduction | PentaxForums.com Reviews

Over the years I've heard a lot of people saying the 43 is a tricky lens. Great oof areas in some situations. Busy in others. I've seen plenty examples as well. It can get a bit frantic.

In my experience it's been one of my most dependable lenses. If I leave home with only one lens (rarely), this one it is. To my eye it has the pixie dust just like its siblings.

A... pleasure, I guess?

Is "bank-manager" an euphemism for "wife" ?

Euphemism -> no, reality -> yes . Whenever I'm ogling at a new shiny, my CC gets lost for some weeks .

I think it's good that DPR is putting up sample galleries of these lenses. Generally speaking DPR has been giving Pentax a good amount of coverage this year. DPR readers should at least know that Pentax is releasing stuff.

Yes, it does seem to be improving somewhat, I don't know why.

I'll have to have a look at the 43mm shots though I can't see myself trading in my SMC version any time soon.

I don't care what DPR has to say about these lenses. When I win this months raffle I'm keeping it. Post #3 today.

I had a look at their gallery, it's nothing special. The vast majority of review sites never use any lens enough to detect any fairy dust in it, it's really just basic specs, is it sharp enough, does it flare, how much fringing is there etc etc.

The only site I've seen trying is phillipreeve.net - Manual Lenses | Sony Alpha but it seems sony focussed. A lot of adapted glass though see

True, many only use items which can be quantified. Cannot really blame them... I do try to go much beyond that here.

The "only"? I resent that!
