My go-to lenses: My K-3II is paired with a Pentax 55-300mm lens and a 1.4 Pentax teleconverter for shooting wildlife in the field. I pair my K-70 with a versatile Sigma 18-250mm lens for shooting high country landscapes as well as wildflowers (macro) and wild animals.

I've never used any lens as much as the 50-200mm that came with my K-50. It's just so darn versatile.

On K-5iis lives the Rokinon 135mm f2
On silver KP, most of the time, the silver DA 20-40mm Limited, together with the vertical grip.

Just as the title says what is the lens that you use most and is most likely always sitting on your camera?
K-3 III: Sigma 28-300mm. Awaiting Pentax to release a WR PLM wide-angle tele!

None! With over 60 lenses and many bodies (film and digital), lenses change quite often.

Obviously they have somewhat different uses, and both are extraordinarily good lenses, but I think the 85 is the better of the two.
This is a qualitative judgment, not a quantitative one.

I'm a big fan of fast standard lenses too. The DFA 50/1.4 really works for me.
Yeah I can see that. How about on a quality of image output? Do you find yourself liking your 85 photos better? I just got a DFA 50 1.4 its coming in the mail but I need to convince myself I dont also need the 85 hahaha

Wow, interesting to see the diversity in answers! Mine seems to be a common choice: K-70 w/18-135mm currently, but looking to make that an HD DA40 Ltd soon (sold my SMC version and missed it immediately). I tend to just pick up and shoot more often with that combo than anything else.

It all depends on which camera bag it's in. If it's the over the shoulder bag then it's either the Pentax 16-50mm DA* or the Pentax 100mm f2.8 Macro Lens. But if it's in my big backpack it will be the Sigma 50-500mm Tele-zoom.

Since aperture block on my K50 I have used the SIGMA 28 - 200 1:3.5 - 5.6. With the aperture ring set on assessed setting and in manual mode I choose the shutter speed and experiment. I find the AF works perfectly well and I am getting better choosing the right settings. I have therefore decided to stay with the K50 at the moment.

Sitting Lens

The Sigma 17-50 is on my K3 , a lens that I find copes with all eventualities with great results .But on my K311 its a toss up between a Super Takumar 55mm f2 via adapter or my Sigma 70-200 f2.8 . A bit of a contrast I know . But I love the colour rendition of the Tak & the Bokeh it produces . The images that the Sigma produces are sharp & well balanced as well , both Macro or normal .
