Takumars: Vintage Camera Aperture Mechanisms

Hi all!

I've owned the Super-Takumars, Super-Multi-Coated, and SMC Takumars for a long time and understood how the automatic push pin apertures pretty easily.
I have also owned a Helios that had the preset aperture on the front of the lens.

Recently, @PentaxLou had lent me some gear including Auto-Takumars and I learned that, interestingly enough, these 'auto' lenses would more correctly be called 'semi-auto'.

I made a PentaxTips video covering the aperture types here:

thanks, also watched the follow up video on manual lenses on pentax K3iii explaining the aperture recording.

Good info. I never really understood the difference.

Exactly! The name (and the rarity) doesn't really make it the easiest to understand!
