20-40 Ltd availability?

Hello guys,

I have a question - is 20-40 Ltd in your countries also nigh impossible to find? In Poland it is impossible to get, even Amazon does not have it, local shops are "on order" but don't know when (and if) it will be available. Ricoh EU has it out of stock. Was this lens discontinued? I know other DA Ltds are or at least are listed as such on Ricoh JP site. Or just stocks run out after K-3 III marketing showing it everywhere and Pentax is not providing new wanting to sell new 16-50?

I sold my Sigma and wanted to get 20-40 but cannot find it

It seems US is treated better then EU by Pentax

I have the same experience of it being very difficult to order Pentax lenses in Europe.
It is usually easier to get hold of a used lens than to get a new copy.

Not many European retailers keep Pentax lenses on stock, and more and more of them drop the Pentax brand entirely.

It seems like a catch 22 situation. They do not have the lenses on stock and can not give a delivery date. so they do not sell many lenses.
And as they do not sell many lenses they do not want to keep lenses on stock.

Bet if you asked, any US dealer will be glad to help you buy any item in their inventory.

They are not clairvoyant. All you need to do is make an email inquiry, or phone call... And your order will be out the door and on its way to your house.

Yeah, and Polish authorities would gladly add all the taxes and duties to the price making 20-40 closer in price to 16-50 :P

As I'm writing this, the HD DA20-40 is listed as in stock at ac-foto.com here in Germany. Have never shopped at their site, but they seem to enjoy some popularity among German Pentaxians, and I wouldn't have qualms to order from them if I was in the market for Pentax gear. Currently €899 for the lens brandnew doesn't exactly strike me as a deal, so I would probably wait a bit for it to drop a little, but if you had the money and didn't mind to pay a "regular" price, you could source the 20-40 from them, I suppose. (For more possiblilties to order from German sellers, you could go to idealo.de and search for the lens.)

Seems to be out of stock in Amazon France. They dare to recommend the Tamron 17-50 instead!

No stock problems here in the UK... SRS have it, so do WEX, Clifton Cameras, Jessops (surprisingly) and others. Mind, it's pricey right now - SRS is charging GBP £729, but everywhere else it seems to be £829. The current full retail price is £899!!

When did it become so expensive?!? That's just crazy. I mean, it's a nice lens and all, but that's an awful lot of beer tokens...

At least one dealer in Canada has the silver and black versions in stock, listed at CAD $629 (+13% sales tax) until 31 Aug 21. Including sales tax, it's equivalent to GBP £406; € 472; USD $552.

I looked at a couple of other dealers -- both listed as out of stock or 'more coming soon'.

@BigMackCam, OUCH. GBP 829 is equiv. to CAD $ 1,450. That would certainly cover a few nights at the local pub.

Thanks, guys. It looks like Anglosaxons have it better then rest of us. I'll check Germany, though 900 Euro is "a bit" pricy, I may wait a bit and hunt for a discount. I think I can live with only 15 Ltd and 55-300 for some time.
