I would buy a Pentax 18-270 but they no longer are offered for sale when were they discontinued and why?
You always find a copy, just check the marketplace:
Pentax 18-270mm F3.5-6.3ED SDM DA lens -- or best offer - PentaxForums.com

Anyway, the DA 18-250mm is much better than the 18-270mm. You can win image quality with just 20mm less focal length.

Sure, switch to crop-mode and use every APS-C lens

Or use the manual focus SMC Pentax-A 35-210mm F3.5-4.5:

In a FF 10x zoom or more (e.g. 28-300), starting wide, no. Tamron make a FF 28-300 f3.5-6.3, but it's not available in K-mount. The widest range in FF seems to be the FA 28-200 or A 35-210 which have been mentioned.

The Bigma (Sigma 50-500) is a FF 10x zoom, but it's probably not the ideal travel lens. ;-)

I tried the FA 28-210 on my K1. It wasn’t unusable, but it was pretty bad.
The long end was weak, as was the wide end.
But if used as a 35-180 f8, it was pretty good.
I quickly went back to my FA 28-105 and Tamron 70-300…
And both of those are outclassed by modern glass.

The 28-300mm Tamron was available for many years in a K-mount, so used copies are out there. Early versions were much larger & heavier than later XR versions. There also was a Promaster Spectrum-7 28-300mm, which was the exact same lens as the small XR Tamron.

Guess I missed the memo, because I’ve got four of them & use ‘em regularly in all-purpose grab & go situations. One person’s trash is another’s treasure!

If quality is trash, it really isn't worth it.
I should get a proper standard zoom IMO. The rest (usual rest I mean) is covered with Tammy 70-200/2.8 and Tammy 90.2.8 macro.
Still need a standard. Either something like 28-105 or 28-70/2.8. Dunno.
Whatever comes to me cheaply enough first LOL.

Thank you all.

Pentax 18-270
The Camera Store in Alberta not only has a very good price, they claim there are more on the way.
Pentax DA 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 ED SDM

Camera Canada just says out of stock.
Camera Canada :: Pentax :: 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 DA ED SDM Lens

Henry's says "special order"
Henrys.com : PENTAX DA 18-270MM F3.5-6.3 ED SDM

B&H says no longer available.

Also I have an FA 28-200. It's pretty bad pixel peeping but reduced in size to 3840x 2160 it's just fine. It all depends on what you want it for? For images to post on my 4k TV, I have no complaints. They even get compliments.

Just saying, for 100 bucks CDN you buy it and find a use for it.

It claims to have Low Dispersion and Aspherical Elements.

I have to say though, the 18-135 on the K-3 is the same field of view and probably gets you a larger useable size.

My only copy of the 28-200 Pentax is a sad sad lens with severe wobble. I do not judge all 28-200 Pentax lenses to be this bad. Even it can be used - but it is not great.

Thanks.

I'll see what I can find.
The F35-70 is nice but a bit limited.
Maybe 28-75/2.8 or 28-105.

Check the reviews, The 3rd party 28-75 lenses seem fine for the most part. The older 28-105 lenses are a mixed bag. Some aren’t bad, none are as good as the current DFA by the reviews I’ve read. However I haven’t shot one since film days.

We've wandered away from super zooms.

Not that there's much to talk about. 4:1 seems to are about the most FF can manage. On APS-c all have compromises.

My Sigma 18-250 became decentered, but, If I could get another I probably would. I got a deal on it when Sigma was closing them out. For one lens hiking, they can't be beat.
