K10d and a very old lens

Please,
someone can tell me if k10d is compatible with this very old lens Pentax Lens Review Database - 28-105mm F4-5.6

?
I don't understand: in the name ther's only FA, but from the forum it seems it's a Pentax K-Mount Bayonet Lenses.
Thank you very much!

Yes, the K10 will work fine with that lens, full functions.

if i understood you correctly, that lens costs 300 €?

i would say, for 300 euros (approx. 380 US$), it's a bit high priced.

Just get it. That's an amazing price for a great camera.

Thank you but I just discovered that k10d pictures are quiet soft, instead the new nikon s710 (260euros) seems to be quiet better about sharpness
It's a pity because i already own the lens but the picture i found are quiet clear.

Not to try and start any camera wars here, but there is absolutely no way that a Nikon (or any brand) P&S takes sharper pictures than the K10D. It is true that Pentax SLRs are known for sometimes producing soft JPEGs "out of the box", but if you shoot raw or adjust the JPEG sharpness in-camera that's just not a problem. The K10D takes pictures that are, for all intents and purposes, as good as or better than any other 10MP DSLR.

Ok, that was just what i'd like to hear. And reading other owners opinions it's the same. I'll give pentax a try. No camera war at all, it's just that i found these pics but probably is as you say and the enthusiasm gone down
Bought
Thank you

Cool! I'm sure you will enjoy the K10D very much! If you're going to compare it to Nikon, it's more on the level of the D80 (same sensor) or D200 than any of their point 'n' shoots

Sorry, no more k10d, they are out of production. What about a k200d for 400euros?

that's considerably cheaper than price in croatia. K200D, body only, is almost 500 euros over here.

baah, i think i'll wait for K30D, then grab a second-hand K20D, or K300D.
(and now spend my money on FA 50mm f/1.4 or DA 50-200, lol)

There are basically two kinds of lenses in the Pentax world: the older M42 screwmount, and the K-mount that has been use for the last 30 years or so. All current camera models use K-mount. The FA series lenses ("PENTAX-FA"are all K mount, as are the DA series, the D-FA series, the F series, the A series, the M series, and some lenses that don't have any letters after the word "PENTAX"). The FA series lenses are not that old, BTW - only 10-20 years. "Very old" in Pentax-land refers to using 50-year-old screwmount lenses

As for K10D pictures being soft, well, sure, if you don't use a good lens or focus well or hold the camera still, any camera is *capable* of taking blurry pictures. And no doubt you've seen blurry pictures form a K10D. Just as we've all seen blurry pictures from just about all other cameras when not used well. But they are pretty much also all capable of taking wonderful pictures. The K10D is no exception - nor are the current models (K20D, K200D, K2000/K-m).
