Norm that is a fine lens from what I’ve read.
It's at a very good price on the auction site, as well!

I went to your flickr page and downloaded the original version of that photo of the city - wanted to zoom in and check things out. Which city is it, by the way?
I'm quite positive that you didn't upload the full file size to flickr, as the image I received on the download was only like 1.5 megs and not very detailed on cropping.
p.s. I really like the image of the city, by the way - which city is it again?

If it's all about resolution, then my favorite trio of lenses covering the 24x36 frame is:
- K 28mm f/3.5: very sharp landscape lens.
- FA 50mm F/2.8 Macro: one of my sharpest lenses, well built and versatile (goes to 1:1 magnification).
- F* 300mm f/4.5: compact, sharp, almost devoid of aberrations. A powerful telephoto lens with superb build quality yet small enough to fit inside a small bag. Works great with the 1.4/1.5/1.7 teleconverters when I need more reach.

Now for the ability of delivering nice pictures (highly subjective criteria), my three favorite Pentax lenses covering the 24x36 frame:
- M 20mm f/4: such a small lens -almost a pancake- with good image quality (just stop down a bit and don't put your main subject in the corner of the frame if you want it sharp) and beautiful colors. It's like the famous 15mm Limited but smaller, with a slightly wider field of view and full 24x36 coverage.
- Takumar 58mm f/2.4: classic Heliar/Dynar formula longish "normal lens" with beautiful rendering (out of focus areas are to die for at f/4).
- Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 85mm F1.8: the classic portrait lens, delivering beautiful pictures and creamy bokeh.

My favorite 24x36mm travel kit (small, versatile and good):
- FA 20-35mm f/4: good compact zoom with a very useful focal lengths range.
- FA 50mm f/1.4: for the classical look and low light ability
- Voigtländer 90mm f/3.5 (OK, not really a Pentax lens...): superlative quality in a very small package. Goes to 1:3.5 magnification too...

Cheers!

Well, I have 3 FA wide-angle I would never part with : 1) FA 20 mm f/2.8, 2) FA 28 mm f/2.8 and 3) FA 35 mm f/2. I recently added the FA 50 mm f/1.7 and this "foursome" are top-notch lenses, be it on the K3 or the K1.

Regards

FA 35 mm on K3

FA 28 mm on K3

FA 20 mm on K1

FA 50 mm on K3

wow! magnificent images!

If anything, I think I've learned that there aren't any definitive 3 lens that are the trifecta, princesses, or amigos....

As stated in the description : Funchal - Madeira

It is downsized to 2048 pixels width as 90% jpeg which makes 1.43 MB.

I have 4 DA Limiteds (15, 21, 40 & 70), but I refer to the latter 3 as my "Three Amigos" b/c they're always on my cam/in my POCKETS (while the others are usually in my bag in the car), so of course I get 90+% of my walking around shots with them, always w/great IQ! In group shoots, I'm usually the only photog NOT lugging a bag on their shoulders! I do cheat slightly on pocketability by using a DA40 hood on my DA70, but it works really well on it too!
