D FA 21mm F2.4 Limited reports/samples starting to appear

Some samples from the D FA 21mm F2.4 ED DC WR Limited are starting to appear from some of the Japanese retailers.

As you might imagine, these are for their customers in Japan, so they're in Japanese, but it's the pictures that count.

Compared to the official Ricoh images, there is a better variety of shots in these reports.

The rendering, including bokeh and sunstars looks really nice to me.

Yeah! it could be that I'm going to change buyin priority from 16-50PLM first to DFA21 limited first. These samples does look rather nice and there must be more to come..

Very nice indeed. Sharp, but not silly... well-controlled CA... lovely rendering overall, with a nice feeling of depth. Folks are going to have a ball with this lens, I think. I can't wait to see what some of our members achieve with it

Nice, images look pleasant to look at. I frankly do not care about sharpness (unless I shoot technical stuff like planes) so this lens looks great. Now we need DA equivalent for K-3/3. Yeah, I know, not gonna happen.

ummm, HD DA15/4 should be that? Yes, DFA21 is faster, but it is closest and as well a limited already

But no WR and that is what I want most. I often leave 15 Ltd in house and take 20-40 (and earlier 18-55) just because of weather. Fullframers are lucky to get such great lens with all modern stuff packed in.

The lens does sunstars: confirmed, question is are they as good as the DA15 f/4 Limited?

The Foreground/Background bokeh appears to be very well balanced which is no minor feat for such a wide lens. Most lenses that have good background bokeh are often a disaster if any OOF foreground elements protrude into the frame.

The high contrast photograph of the treetops against an overexposed sky is a BRUTAL test for any lens, the D-FA21mm f/2.4 appears to handle it very well.

Based on the samples I’d guess the d fa 21 sunstars are similar to those made with the HD DA 15 - which lags behind the SMC version but isn’t bad.

I was a bit worried this lens would obliterate half the frame with rays as many seem to prefer. I'm very happy so see how this lens handles it! I find the HDDA15 very good in this regard and as you say the DFA21 looks much like it. Sun stars are a tedious special effect!

I prefer the crisp sharp rays of the SMC but I get why it isn’t always to everyone’s taste.

There were a couple of late evening/night star images included. The images look sharp, crisp with good contrast, and no coma (that I could see) in the corners or along the edges. It looks like a nice lens - nice landscapes with good color, nice rendering with details.
