Currently they are destined for use on my K200D, although I might give the spotmatic a spin to see how it does. One of the reasons I like taks on my DSLR (vs K or M) is that I can use Av mode and don't have to pres the green button, although do have to get the exposure compensation right for different apertures, but that's not too hard. That way I can stop down 1 stop, still be able to manually focus just fine, and still shoot in Av mode. Of course the K and M lenses are a bit more convenient since you don't have to fiddle with adapters.

I'm not sure which of these I'll use the most...I was really looking for a nice 135/2.5, and this fit the bill. And of course I'll need to try out the 20/4.5, that would should produce some nice images, but feel like I'm losing a bit from it due to the crop factor (but then again, I gain some on the 135 tele end).
Just for fun, you might want to try the camera and the taks together with some modern color neg film (say Ektar 100) and have the negs scanned to digital. These old lenses really shine when used with the media size they were designed for and the results should be fairly striking.

If you would like to see some shots using the 135/2.5 and a couple with the 20/4.5 S-M-C Taks, check out this thread I just posted in the "Post your Photos" section:

Sell something!!!

I guess I can blame the LBA pledge.

This went for a "Buy it Now" for $165 USD:
Pentax Honeywell 35mm film camera with five lenses - eBay (item 120342822594 end time Nov-30-08 18:57:45 PST)
I would love to have any of those lenses. A couple also appear to be the late version SMC Takumars. The worst part is that the seller is local to my area...

Steve

(Getting the LBA "shakes"...been almost 4 months since last lens...don't think about lost Super Taks...pain, oh! the pain!)
So far I'm still in the game!! I just sold something even.

But I did have to get up and walk away from the computer when I saw that.

Why do I even look?

The end of the year is only a few days away

It wasn't that hard for me...especially since I got everything else sorted out (filters/bag/film stuff/etc).

You must be ever vigilant.

<giant grin> <---- (they arrived yesterday)

The lenses are quite nice, all in immaculate condition. Going to try out the 135/2.5 tomorrow for some sports. BTW, they are all super-multi-coated except the 50/1.4, it is SMC.

That seller also has some other very nice listings. I would love to grab his 200/2.5 or 300/4...but I can live for now.
You know to use a Wein cell in the Spot F since the mercury battery is discontinued/banned?

I wasn't aware exactly what type of battery that it needed. I don't think I have any of those. But if I get around to trying it out, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the tip!

I was told that the Spotmatic has some sort of "bridge" circuit and is not affected by the voltage difference between the mercury and silver batteries.

(Recently bought the C.R.I.S. adapter for my Ricoh TLS...)

I am right on it...wait a minute $10,000 minimum? Took a look a the list and figure that arpaagent's group is more desirable.

The Spot F requires an adapter to use silver batteries or a Wein cell because the Silver batteries provide too high of a voltage.

I am aware of the voltage issues as well as the characteristics of the various solutions. During some recent research, I was surprised to see the later Spotmatics singled out as not requiring modification or adapted batteries.

This topic is probably best discussed on a different thread, but might be worth starting something in the knowledge base.

Great buy on the Pentax-F 50/1.7. Excuse my ignorance, but what is a "Panagar fitting"?

Steve

Edit: Just figured it out...Extension tubes! Are they compatible with the autofocus?

True, I was just giving Arpaagent a heads up on the mercury battery not being available anymore. I thought there was a thread regarding the merc battery situation on here somewhere but I can't find it.

As far as I am aware there are no extension tubes that are capable of autofocus (no doubt someone will now prove me wrong) but they are compatible with the "A" setting so will be a lot more useful than the ones without.
I actually only want the tubes, it was worth the price for them alone .. the F 1.7 is just a bonus
