You are sampling a large circle of confusion with many pixels. Pixel shift and sharpening will not help.
Zero distortion is the real benefit unless you like long exposure times. You can calculate the optimum whole diameter/distance for a pinhole for best resolution. Changing the distance, i.e. zooming, will have an effect on resolution. I think for FF sensor the optimum distance is closer than the flange focal distance of an SLR.
That said, it will be an toy and done well, it is worth a decent price.

is there any difference between this and drilling a hole in a body cap and using that?

The main difference will be the achievable size (small) and tolerance in circularity of the hole.
The zoomable option also offers a swappable pinhole size
