That lens does an ok job on ff for part of the range. It will be wider than 18mm apsc as it tends to be pretty much reasonably FF at about 24mm (18mm on apsc is more like 28mm FF)

Not that it's the state of the art, or superb lens, I could just get the 18-55 wr lens for when the 31mm isn't recommended for the weather.
As for composite framing, or interval shooting, that could work in some settings.
18-55 on apsc isn’t any wider than the 28-105, which itself is only slightly wider than the 31. 31 is wide - not super wide but wide. Once upon a time 35 was “wide” 28 was wider, and 24 was ultra-wide. Today standards are different but the fa 31 may surprise you - albeit not weather resistant.
The D FA 21 and the Irix 15 are super wide indeed.
Why WR? Could you just get a lens coat and an umbrella? The FA J 18-35 is a fun inexpensive option that won’t compete with the D FA 21 but might work well if the 18-55 WR is on your radar.
