If someone can get this lens for EURO 200, they should. I doubt it would be a bad purchase at that price!
one person from www.penta-club.ru just purchased it off ebay for
~USD $295 all inclusive

he promised to post some pictures once the lens will be delivered.

Samyang, might not have a huge following in the US but I have a few Samyang lenses and if you look up some data on them, they have some very good lenses for a fractional cost.

As far as the build of the lenses Miserere linked to. Those look like Nikon build, and not Nikon consumer but higher end Nikor glass.

I just bought a 90mm lens so I'm not in a hurry for this, but if I found one for $200, based on the photo comparison on the asian site, I'd have no problems with this lens!

New 85mm f1.4 Lens for Pentax K10D K20D K100D K200D - eBay (item 360116713123 end time Dec-25-08 03:23:35 PST)

seller states that actual lenses are w/ "A" setting and picture is just a generic, old image... at least that is what buyer from penta-club.ru reports about his transaction w/ said seller

I'll wait to see more samples before final judgment -- but LORDY that pic at f/1.4 (of the ceramic tile chair-back insert) is terrible.

Yeah, I'm wondering where he was focusing--looks sharp at the very bottom edge of the frame. But that image isn't going to cause a sales rush.

The focus at the bottom is weird but who knows what they were focusing on... and we all know our pentax cams have no FF/BF issues

But as far as the CA/PF... I do not believe our FA 50 1.4's wide open would have done any better...

he writes that he was aiming at the left (left from him) edge of the oval ceramic insert... and in second scene (1st picture w/ Tokina, 2nd w/ Samyang) at the ceramic ball/globe

The portrait is at f/4.5 and the bench at f/5.6 -- c'mon, nobody's gonna buy this lens to use it at f/4+!

With that out of the way, it does seem to sharpen up decently, and there's much less CA and better contrast.

The CA on the chair pic were due to black subject on almost white background under extremely bright sun. Any lens will give CA under these conditions.

But CA is the least of my worries. The build is. Although it might look like Sigma EX DG line, the upper part of the lens cup (with golden Samyang sticker) is made of a very fragile plastic, and can be easily broken. If you put on the hood which is also made of plastic, the chances of breaking this fragile construction are very high. Frankly I am not excited. Buying one of Cosina/Voigtlander Noktons is definitely a better idea. At least for their resale value.

I will try to take decent samples over the weekend both on digital camera and film (I was too busy today and practically had no time), but I am already inclined to get rid of it.

For those who complain of me not using the lens at 1.4 - I am in the Southern Hemisphere, in the middle of the summer with extremely bright sun always above your head. Not your ideal conditions to use it at 1.4. And for those who didn't understand who I am, I am the "person" from the Russian site who was stupid enough to buy this lens

I am not Korean, I am not going to defend their pride But I took a picture of the same chair with my SMCP FA 50/1.4 2 minutes after taking this one, and it was not much different. CA were all over the place.
