one thing I know for sure is that you wont get 'round' OOF highlights without a lens that uses a rounded aperture. as for your lens, yes id say its rather common.

The "spikes" are normal, and part of the design. Maybe not the best design, but that's how they are. As for a blade or two being too quick or too slow, that's something that happens to many lenses, so it's normal but not part of the design. I've found that it becomes more noticeable the more you close your aperture, but I've never shot my fast lenses beyond f/8.

For what it's worth, I have a Cosina 55mm f/1.2 and I think each of the 8 blades blade moves of its own accord and free will such that you can't tell which one is off. I just shoot it wide open

Yes the spikes are normal except the right and upper right corner blades are misaligned. I'll just wait for the OP to come back and elaborate.
