Interesting variation.
Name is probably because M42 was also described as "Pentax universal" back in those days.

According to Ger Jan van Oosten's book (The Definitive Asahi Pentax Collector's Guide) it is an early version of the Bellows Takumar. It is also explained here: 1: 4 / 100 360 (43600) - Takumar Field Guide
