Pentax A 400mm f/5.6 BATTLE between the Pentax K-S2 and Fuji X-H1 !!!

Another completely UN-Scientific comparison between my Pentax K-S2 and Fuji X-H1 using my favorite long lens, the Pentax A 400mm F5.6

Both photo's taken with the same ISO, shutter speed and F Stop of 8.0 within 5 minutes of each other. I had only hoped the same bird would stick around for both cameras but alas......no.......

I used the Capture One Pro for editing the Fuji X-H1 and IMAC Photo for the Pentax K-S2. Both editing software programs are excellent in my opinion.

My observations. Both cameras did an excellent job with this lens. The Pentax K-S2 was a bit easier believe it or not focusing because of it's audible "beep" when in focus. I had to rely on the Fuji X-H1 using focus peak high light which obviously does not give me an audible when in focus. I have to rely on my eyes and the focus peaking color. I still however prefer the Fuji over the Pentax because of the mirrorless design and the electronic viewfinder.

Pentax K-S2

Fuji X-H1

Not bad for a $260 dollar lens purchased from a fellow Pentaxian on this forum.

What about the unedited versions? That is far more interesting, because that really shows what the camera/lens/photographer is capable of.

All I did was sharpen them both a tad. They look very close to what you see straight out of the camera.

The Pentax shot is nicer but that’s just the luck of subjects and backgrounds I think. Impressive lens results.

- Looks like a comparison between Pentax K-S2 and Fuji X-H1.
- Second subject is about three times as large as first subject, and the second subject has head and feather in the same plane of focus, giving very significant advantage to the X-H1.
When comparing two cameras, the subject should be the same.

I am thinking of getting one for occasional use on k70 e k1. I've read reviews here but your examples look great to me. I don't read the exif, what aperture did you take? Do you also use it with TC?
I was undecided between 1.4x or with adapter 1.7

Both shot at F8. I don’t use teleconverters but I hear the 1.4 is the way to go if you do use one.

Ok, many thanks.

I ordered the lens, then I'll see.
