Were they a good deal?

Hi everyone

I made my first 2 prime lens purchases today....
A Pentax SMC M 50mm 1.4 (hoping he had the SMC K 50mm 1.2 but it was a M 2.0 instead)
A Pentax SMC 135mm 3.5

Both are in the best condition you can get.... like brand new right out of the box. very tight fitting as well.

I got both for $60 canadian dollars which is around 52 American dollars.

Does it sound like a good deal?

also, after setting the SR manually does the SR indicator always stay lite in the view finder? seems to blink off and on with my K10.

any opinions appreciated as always!

cheers

randy

Well, I paid $50cad for my 135/3.5, so I'd say you pulled an excellent deal! Enjoy the new toys.... I really like my 135. More so than my FA50/1.4 even! (Tho that lens is MUCH sharper and contrastier)

Oh yeah.. the SR symbol should appear as you half press the shutter.... so says the manual anyway

Of course you got a good deal

If you were buying them as an investment to resell them you got a good deal.
But you were buying them to use, and for that, you would have gotten a good deal even if you paid more than what you did.

A dinner for four in a good restaurant is much more than what you paid, and once you leave the restaurant it is history. These lenses will give you pleasure and contribute to your photography for many years.

Your primes are long-end on a dslr. If you find you like working with them and with manual focus, try a 28 or 35 f3.5 SMC or super takumar for a different, and equally worthwhile inexpensive experience. Normant

That is a great find randy, you can't get much better than that 50mm f1.4 (I've had the a version for 20 some years). It is nice to use the old lenses they really are made well.
