Will Tokina 11-16 for Nikon mount on Pentax?

I had the Sigma 10-20 for a while, but sold it...now I kind of want it back. But there are other wide zooms on the market...the Pentax 12-24 of course, and the new Tamron 10-24.

The thing I really want, of course, is a Pentax version of the Tokina 11-16. But it isn't available yet, and AFAIK may never be.

But I wonder--given that it's an ultrawide, and doesn't really require precise focusing, would the Nikon version successfully mount on a Pentax camera?

Most likely NO. I am not sure whether you can get an adapter either.

Nope.

You can jam an old Nikon F lens onto a K mount body or do a mount conversion by replacing parts (see Sean Carpenter's posts on dpreview).

However, you can't do the same thing for the tokina 11-16 (or Nikon DX lenses generally) because there's no way to control aperture.

Somewhat on topic, will Pentax release a version of this lens? All the other Tokina lenses have a Pentax eqivalent. I wish this would be the next DA* lens, I'd get it in a heartbeat.

Any news on this?

Having this lens as the next DA* zoom sure would make a lot of sense. You'd have 11-135mm f/2.8 covered without any overlap.

Pentax doesn't have an equivalent for every Tokina lens, however, the 80-400mm remains Tokina only. Unless there's a surprise announcement at Photokina, I somehow think we won't be getting the 11-16, at least for a very long time.

According to some random crap I read online, a DA* 11-16 is on an internal roadmap, but isn't officially slated for release. It would be nice, though.

I didn't realize there was no aperture ring on the Tokina...bummer. I'm sure a skilled technician could do a conversion, but I'm not one. Probably I will buy another Sigma...hope this one is sharp at infinity...
