Originally posted by jcdoss I see people malign these lenses sometimes and I wonder what they're talking about, or what their expectations are. I have a K24f2.8 and am persistently amazed by it. I've never had another 24mm lens and don't yearn for one.
Oh that is totally how I felt also. Until I got the K3 I didn't need that aperture control on the camera – also the IQ on the Vivitar 24mm f2 RL is just slightly sharper and has less field curvature than the SMC Pentax 24mm f2.8. That said, there is NOTHING bad to say about either lens.

The Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 is a fantastic lens. I have only used it for Canon EF-S.

I always have the 'Early K' version on my bike camera, the Ricoh XR7. This is probably one of the most underdog lenses in human history.

If you have a mirrorless camera, do yourself a favor and go buy the Konica Hexanon 40mm f1.8.
Then come back here with tears of joy in your eyes and thank me...

As for me,
For Pentax APS-C: DA 35mm Limited
For Fujifilm: 35mm f/1.4
For L-mount: S 50mm f/1.8, but only because there is no 50mm Sigma I-series lens or any 50mm macro lens yet for that mount
For film: Probably the M 50mm f/1.4
I will run to the local Mom and Pop Camera Store and but the Sigma I-Series 50mm f2 (or 1.8) when it is announced. Not even waiting for the reviews.
