Pedantic thread of the day; Matching the Takumar aluminium lens caps with their era.

Is there a thread or any resource that matches the old aluminium caps to their lens?
There is a lot of variation
Thinking about selling a few Taks and it would be nice to match them with their original caps.

I'm guessing the pattern might be age related, rather than lens specific, so if you can possibly date your lenses, maybe by serial number, perhaps you might be able to work from that angle.

How about this for a guess?
Logic is the 46mm ones are going to be for the old auto taks and taks.
The left hand "Pentax" 49mm one matches the 46mm one. The first "Asahi Pentax" one is the same font as the previous one.
I think the "Takumar" came off a Takumar 135 3.5
And I think my Takumar 58mm 2.4 had a silver one (but I can't find it at the mo)

I would assume the Asahi Pentax to the right is an older one because of the font.
The other Pentax/Asahi Pentax use similar font as used on later plastic caps.

And those with only Pentax are newer than Asahi Pentax.

I believe Takumar caps came with budget Takumar series lenses. At least plastic Takumar caps came with these lenses.
But it seems like some older lenses had Takumar capts, FI Takumar 18/11 fisheye. But it is most likely a custom design for that lens.

The oldest caps has AOCO logo.

For reference, my s/h Spotmatic came with three lenses, all Super-Takumars, the 35mm f/3.5, the 135mm f/3.5 and the 8-element 50mm f/1.4.
The caps that came with these lenses were identical, all as the top right-hand cap in the image above, with the smaller "ASAHI" lettering.
The camera was bought at a local general auction and was quite possibly a "one owner from new" kit.

the top middle one is the most recent one for sure so I'd say it is for the SMC

There are all black or all silver caps with a smooth/satin finish and only the AOCo logo.
Name the lens that this 72mm metal AOC cap fits on - PentaxForums.com

There are also textured AOCo caps with text, probably for the 6×7 lenses.

In the US we had caps with the distributor name, Honeywell and I think Heiland.

But was there any 46mm filtered lenses later than the auto taks? That is why I had attributed the straight Pentax to earliest.

OK I have a Spotmatic and a Spotmatic 11 user manual (so that is Super, S-M-C and SMC) and in the miscellaneous gear they have the right hand one.
The spotmatic 11 came out in 1971 with the S-M-C range
The original spottie came out in 1964 with the Supers.
Presuambly the user manual would originate from the introductory years.
I am thinking they are in the order above but the right hand one includes the supers.

It may not be the original cap, but one produced much later as spare part.
And these spare caps was most likely produced with the logo that was in use for other caps at the time of production.

Just had a look at my list of lenses. 8 x 46mm filter lenses including the 58mm 2.4.
And I have 6 caps - 5 straight "Pentax" and the "takumar" one. They can't all be replacements.
The Takumar one must have been off the 58mm 2.4

These caps came to me accompanying a low serial number Auto-Tak 55/2. The rear cap is quite heavy and blackened inside, but there is no inscription on it. On eBay, I've seen a mint lens from that same era with the same front and rear caps. I have not found much information about the years of manufacture of each model.
