Do these seem reasonably sharp?

These were taken with my K5iiS and the SMC M135mm F3.5. These are close to being a 100% crop.
They were taken at F3.5 and the barn was probably around 500 yards away. The first one probably 50yards
further back Does the sharpness
seem reasonable to you? Thanks for your input

It's not too bad, but I see pretty substantial fringing on the edges and some chromatic aberration. What F-stop are these images? Shutter speed?

The fact that you used the M135 F3.5 manual focus lens wide open at F3.5 I think they look good. If you stop the lens down a couple of notches I am sure that you will see better results, although I am surprised how well it did wide open.

Are you using a hood? If not, adding one of the appropriate size should give you some more contrast and can help with perceived sharpness as well because there won't because the light will only be coming in from the wanted direction and stray light won't be washing the image out.

White balance is off.
- Set white balance on the barn
- Correct fringing
- Sharpen in software

If that’s near-100% then you’re asking us to pixel peep - looks good to me in that case.

They seem reasonably sharp. Where is the barn, look familiar, but maybe you have posted pics of it before.

Is there a filter on the lens? Try removing it, and add a hood to get rid of stray light. Maybe try a circular polarizer to do something about the sky.

Took the same subject today. Used a tripod, better lighting , Smaller lens opening and used a
lens hood.

If the barn really is 500 yards away, the image must be cropped a fair bit. If so, resolution is quite good.

If it is not cropped, I can't see that the barn could be 500 yards away. In that case, resolution is OK, but nothing special. I would expect as good or better with the DA 18-135 at 135mm.

Here is the original uncropped photo. The second one was cropped to about 100%

Given the proportion of the frame that the barn occupies, I'd say resolution is OK. The M 135mm f3.5 has a lot of fans, but it would be interesting to compare a modern zoom at 135mm. I suspect that there would be more resolution and less aberrations.

The last photo was taken on a beautiful 75 degree day

I've seen very few samples of the 18-135 taken of landscapes at 135 and they didn't seem that impressive

Aha! If you look at the ridge line and the barn cladding you can see that waviness. That's the air movement - hot air. If you'd like that barn to be crisp in your photo, try earlier in the day when it's cooler.
