It is this fact that makes it more of a mystery why the Planar is $200 more than the Nokton. As pointed out by Ibam, a quality metal hood is included, but I mainly attribute it to Zeiss being a large corporate player, able to trade on their name. Voigtlander doesn't have the same foot print in todays market to demand the premium, though the lenses are of equal quality.
That said, they are different designs. Perhaps the glass in the Planar costs more? Who knows... not I.
