It would be the 18-55mm II. Sometimes they come with the 16-45mm as the kit lens.
Thanks, I have a K20d with 18-55 kit lens on order. plus I have a bunch of pre AI Nikkor lenses to pop on this rig. Yahoo!!

I'm all in favour of fast primes but, if you're thinking wide zooms, for a bit more than the 16-45 you could get the Tamron 2.8 17-50 XR Di II.
NEW TAMRON AF 17-50mm XR F/2.8 Di II LENS PENTAX K20D - (eBay.ca item 120355830445 end time 27-Jan-09 14:05:53 EST)

Apparently, they accept offers of $270 US, and tons of people (myself included) have dealt with them successfully.

Now, I don't have this lens, but I do have the Tamron 2.8 28-75 and love it. Way faster than the kit lens (and out of the DA limiteds, only the 70 is faster), and the quality is outstanding. Apparently, people like the 17-50 just as much.

Thank you for all the replies guys. It's a lot of help really. So many things to ponder!! Amazing how addicting this has become After reading every review I could possibly find on several different pentax and sigma lenses, I decided to buy the Pentax 31mm this morning and wait until I saw a zoom that I liked the looks of. Unfortunately, I was a little too slow in getting out of bed this morning. I'd found a good price last night from a store with three 31s available. This morning they were all gone!! Now I'm back to the question "do I wait until I find another really good price on the 31mm, or do I get the 35 f/2 and maybe a 16-50 zoom?" There are plenty of 31s out there, but I can't seem to find anymore in the area of $650 shipped (like I'd found last night....)

Thanks for the reply. It just so happens that I have 2 lenses that will "screw in". I tried the Nikkor 50mm/1.4. It works but the aperture ring is cockeyed. Photos are good, but I need to test it more. This is definitely a jerry rig. Has anyone tried the Voigtlander twins: 40mm/f2 and 58mm/f1.4. These are real Pentax mounts including the computer chip.
