Finally got around to photographing (most of) my modest lens collection.

Finally got around to photographing (most of) my modest lens collection. There are a few other lenses at my daughter's place, from memory an 18-55mm kit lens, an SMC Pentax-F 70-210mm and a 50mm F1.7 prime and possibly another lens I have forgotten about. This image taken with a 55mm M42 Super-Takumar lens.

From front left: Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm F2.8, M42 mount; Carl Zeiss Jena MC S (Sonnar) 135mm, M42 mount; Cosina 24mm F2.8 MC macro, K-mount, as for all remaining lenses; Rokinon 8mm fisheye F3.5.
Second row, from left: Not a lens, simply a Tokina doubler (which I keep for some unknown reason); two SMC Pentax-F 35-70mm lenses (because it's one of my favourites); SMC Pentax F 35-105mm NOS.
Third row, from left: SMC Pentax F 50mm F1.7; two 28-80mm lenses, the black one is a far better lens than the silver one.
Fourth row, from left: Sigma DG 70-300mm, second type and a Sigma DG 50-500mm "bigma" lens.

Nice collection Mark. You managed to crop off the top of the Sigma "bigma" a bit. Can't tell if its extended or not

They don't make a lens wide enough to photograph my lens collection.

Isn't that "Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 135mm" a Sonnar?
How do you find that Rokinon fisheye? Does the lens-hood not intrude on a full-frame picture?

It's not … the focal length mark is at 50mm

Yeah, sorry Bob! Had to lose that bit to get the 'right' framing.

No, both Zeiss lenses are Jena DDR.

Yes, it sure does. But, I still find it pretty useful at times, mainly for interior architecture shots in tight spaces.

Yes, but does the writing on the front not read "MC S 1:3.5 f=135" where the "S" is an abbreviation for Sonnar, as opposed to Tessar?
Many of the (later?) Tessars have just a "T" as a description.
FWIW, my examples are similar to yours, though possibly not in quite such good condition

My 8mm fisheye is the old Soviet Peleng in M42, which has no hood at all.
It hadn't had much use since I "went digital", but it's getting a new lease of life with my current re-interest in using film in my *ist … just got to try to remember to keep my feet out of the frame

I stand humbly corrected! The 50mm lens is a Tessar and the 135mm is indeed an MC S, therefore Sonnar lens.
It is in superb "as new" condition and I found it online very cheaply. A lovely lens.

Interestingly, the 50mm lens, also found online had a very peculiar strong chemical smell when I first got it, but that has now dissipated. I suspect the previous owner must have stored it with something else which was off-gassing rather terribly.

I think he cut the top off the bigma to reduce the amount of empty space in the shot, what it clearly demonstrates is the need for more lenses

Nice collection! From those I have the F50 1.7 and the silver 28-80
Rumor has it I may have more cameras than lenses... like 10:1 ratio

Thanks,
Ismael
