I'm awaiting the lens in the mail. It appears the copy I bought doesn't have a lens hood and I'm a little difficulty googling to find the size I need to buy.

Can anyone help me determine the size of lens hood I need for this lens please - (?)

Addendum: The review on this site says "Lens hood: metal (screw in 84/86 mm)" - that seems a little odd to have a 84/86mm size, can someone explain the 2 numbers ?
Read that as 84 or 86mm. But other sites have a model @ 95mm including a Sigma site so you need to wait and see. My one is 86mm.

Yeh, I emailed Sigma and got this confusing reply,

"
MichaelThank you for contacting us, that lens does not have a lens hood.Best,[signature_692838628]Marc FarbTech Rep/Photographer| SIGMA Corporation of America<http://sigmaphoto.com/>15 Fleetwood Court | Ronkonkoma, NY 11779TEL: 516-659-0497 | FAX: 631.585.1895"

So I replied back and asked, "So does this lens have threads for a lens hood ?"

I'm sure it does, but I think the representative was just trying to dismiss my question without trying to look it up...

The Sigma only has one aperture (F8), so are you suggesting to put it in that mode and select F8 ? I'm confused. With my M (manual) Pentax lens, I used the green button method - is it possible to use the green button method with this lens (or maybe not since it can't stop down since it only has one aperture - ?)...
Green button works also, but Tav makes sense as the ’A’perture is fix f8. Then shutter and ISO become automatic. ISO should be a range, but tends to increase quickly.
I have also modified my rear dial settings to control not the aperture but ISO manually ( so I can control noise level better) and verify resulting automatic shutter time in viewfinder (you need 1/500 or faster on this focal length) and stored this setup in one user mode for mirrorlenses. Especially in low light conditions I prefer to control ISO manually.
