You have to enable use of the aperture ring, and then shoot in manual mode.

Who manufactured the 600mm f8 lens in question?

Even if you set the camera menu to allow the use of manual lenses with aperture rings and use the camera in manual mode you may not get the best results.

I remember years ago buying a 500mm f8 mirror reflex lens and swearing that there was something wrong with my camera because whenever I used that lens I couldn't take an image that was correctly focused and the exposures weren't being consistently metered by the camera's in-body light meter.

It turned out it was just a REALLY bad lens.

Is this "myth" something that can be dispelled by reading the manual?

What's the problem? In what sense does it not function as you expect it should?

It is probably a Sigma lens since it is 600mm.

pentax lens Retard

Go into the custom menus and set enable aperture ring.

You can shoot on any of the auto modes as aperture priority, but the lens will stay at f/8. You can shoot in manual mode and use any aperture but the camera will not metre for you until you press the green button.

And next time search the forums...

This link will help you. It's written for the K100 but operation on the K20 is almost identical:

If it's a mirror lens, shoot in Av.
