I would say this thread would be the worst dose of LBA injection ever

So many lenses, so limited means.

My favourite, of the Pentax lenses I have experienced thus far, is without doubt the DA*50-135. There may be better out there, but I haven't experienced them, so I will stick with what I know

SMC Pentax 28mm F2

My nomination is quite rare SMC Pentax 28mm F2. It was somewhat large and heavy, but I used it for over 20 years with My K2.

In the context of the K2, you will get no argument from me! My favorite lens for my K2 is the SMC M 50mm f1.4.

Or the K28/3.5 - a bit slower, a bit sharper

The f/2.0 is a $500 lens http://cgi.ebay.com/Pentax-2-28-SMC-for-pentax-K_W0QQitemZ350147351473QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item350147351473&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Out of what I own, I would probably have to say the 43mm followed closely by the 85mm (haven't had the opportunity to use it much yet); the 43mm for the IQ, size and build quality & feel and the 85mm just because!

I love my DA40. Along with the DS, it makes such a sweet, compact walkabout setup.

A close second would be my A50/1.7, the first Pentax lens that I owned. Its signature is irreplaceable.

I love my SMC Tak 55/1.8. Great results on either camera, though I prefer it's 35mm field of view as opposed to the cropped-sensor field of view. I would like to find an SMC Tak 50/1.4 just to see what difference it makes.

The 55 is definitely my fav though.

Even though I don't use it as much as other focal lengths, the DA70 would have to be my favorite. It just seems to absolutely nail anything it's pointed at. A pure pleasure to use!

A 50mm f/1.7!

Best bang for the buck out there.
I've done my best work with that Pentax lens on film and digital. Can't say enough for for it. Sharp, fast, versatile, smooth, cheap, and color the envy of the industry.

Love it so much I now have an FA version, but rarely use it for work 'cause I'm so comfortable with the old A series manual focus. Other photographers (Pentax or otherwise) snicker when they see me twisting away with the little 50mm, but then marvel at the results compared to their setups.

I have a favorite zoom too. the FA 28-105 for the Power Zoom cameras. It's a bit heavy, but the performance has never let me down. The range is just about ideal for work outside.

The superb 28/2 is not really a Pentax lens, it's a Zeiss design ("Hollywood" Distagon):
SMC* PENTAX* 28mm f

Happy new year to everyone! Cheers!

Or in that case, the picture is worth 1000 pounds sterling (or more)! And please don't tell me you took the shot with your third FA77.

I think it's plain to see from the responses that the best lens is whichever FA Limited is on your camera. Right now that means I must vote FA43.
