Your All Time Favorite Pentax Lens?

Which is your all time favorite Pentax lens which you possess or have used (and not you wish to have )?

Tell me which lens and why do you love it

For me its the FA 35mm f/2

I really think this is Pentax's best lens, especialy for the price. Amazingly sharp wide open, beautiful bokeh, amazing rendition of colors, and great contrast.

But it can be improved.... SDM, better build quality, better manual focus ring.

Pentax SMC M 50mm f2.0

This was the standard "kit" lens on more Pentax cameras than any other, I believe..The M-series of cameras spanned a longer time frame than any other series..Correct me if I am wrong in stating this..

That being said, this lens gets virtually no respect in today's Pentax discussions..It is totally overlooked..Mention this lens in a conversation, and most Pentaxians will merely raise their eyebrows and steer the discussion into another direction..Of all the 50mm lenses that Pentax equipped their cameras with before the advent of quality zoom lenses, the M 50mm f2.0 is by far the least regarded..

I spent the first 5 years as a photographer using nothing else but the M 50mm f2.0 attached to a Pentax MX camera..Must have put close to 1000 rolls of Kodak Tri-X film through that combination..Although I occasionally lusted for a different lens, especially one with a longer focal length, I never felt I was being short changed quality wise by the M 50 f2.0..I simply could not afford anything else but the MX with the M 50mm f2.0 lens..So, I used what I had to the best of my abilities..

This lens will always have a special place in my heart for I KNOW that it is capable of stunning results if the photographer will only do their part..

The A*85/1.4.
Truly a lens that deserves it's legendary status.

DA16-45 ED wide zoom.
Since switching to DSLR all of my lenses have become a little narrow in view. This lens fills the void and has great IQ. It also doesn't hurt that I only had to pay $200usd for a mint copy. I think that it is todays big bargain.

Having not been a Pentax user for long, it's hard or me to say, my most used lens is the DA35LTD for its versatility, but the DA*50-135mm is just such a performer. I dont know if I can decide but I think it's between those two.

With my limited experience, and in the process of growing my lens collection, I would have to the the FA 50mm F/1.4.

I just got the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 so we will see if my view changes!

I wish I could say the A* 85 1.4 and I have used the FA43mm Ltd, and am seriously considering purchasing one. but honestly going on a basis of most used and enjoyed it would be the SMC Takumar 55mm 1.8 I absolutely love that lens, I love using it and I love the results I get from it. that may change however since I just acquired a 6x7.

That's a tough call. Each lens serves a use and I've slimmed my bag down quite a bit over the last year. Most used would be the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 and DA16-45mm. Favourite might be the newest. Takumar 28mm f3.5. Fine piece of glass.

Most used FA 50mm although the DA 35 is close behind it.
