I know what you mean tranq78 - the K 200/2.5 is pretty special. Jay - although you will be the first I call I suspect this would be the last manual focus lens I would sell.

I think I'm out of the market for a while. Of course, I've said that before but I've got a very good and versatile kit now. I might pick up a Sigma 180mm macro or a DA* 200mm next year but could live without. What I really need is to focus my attention on improving my shooting technique and pp.

Hi,

Like most of you, I don't need a new lens, but I will certainly buy another one. Either the DA* 200 or the DA* 300 is my next purchase. Anyone has owns the two and could help me make a decision?

Best regards,
I only own the DA* 300/4 and I highly recommend it, fabulous lens.

I'm torn at the moment for my next lens. I need something wider than 28mm. I'm not a big zoom guy but the DA 16-45 is probably my best choice. But since I've got two of the three amigos, the FA 43Ltd is calling my name. I'm just having a hard time letting go of the funds since I've spent so much in the past couple months. The DA 15Ltd is definitely a strong contender. For me I think the DA 15Ltd, coupled with the DA 16-45 and a FA 43Ltd will complete my dream kit. The DA 1.4X converter will possibly get me to sell my Tammy 1.4X IF it's weather sealed and gets awesome reviews, otherwise the Tammy does a great job.
After that I'll keep on the lookout for great deals on older Takumars, M series and A Series glass just because I love to own them:-).

I'm thinking about replacing the 2 zooms in my Pentax kit.

Tamron 28-75 looks good for replacing the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8. Pentax 17-70 also looks good.

Sigma 50-150 or 70-200 looks good for replacing the DA* 50-135.

I want to find some SMC Takumar lenses in the 35 or 28mm range for wide angle, and an 85mm for portraiture. Not much of a telephoto guy, so my 135/2.5 should suffice for the far end. Might also consider the Jupiter-9 85mm, as it seems to get rave reviews, I'm just leery of internet purchases on used equipment, so I'll have to hunker down and try and find these locally (except the Jupiter, which I understand can be purchased new?)

I've kinda lost interest in my K200D now that my Spotmatic will be good as new when I get it back, but if I were to keep it, the DA 21 and 70 would be on the list too.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to replace the Sigma 18-50? Is it not the ideal zoom range or is not sharp enough? I'm thinking of getting that one so I'm just looking for feedback. Thanks.

I'm certainly set for now.
When I'd restart in a couple of years, I'd get the DA 15mm Ltd, the DA* 300mm and the DA(*?) 11-16 mm. If the latter wouldn't appear, I'd go for the DA 12-24mm.
That is when there aren't too many Q-Controle issues with the new lenses.
This somewhat spoils the fun: issues being reported about the DA* 16-50mm, the DA 17-70mm and even the DA* 50-135mm.
If this keeps up, I might just as well keep with what I have now and forget about anything new.

Looking to get a DA* 10-16mm 2.8 and/or a DA* 150-400mm 3.3 or 4. If I could find one or both today I would get one or both today. As I canít get either I probably will not be getting anything for some time. Yes, there are other lenses that can do this or that I am looking for this and that, the whole package. I have waited for 30 years, I can wait a little longer.

The lens has no real problems. I like it's sharpness and especially it's colors. The range is good but I don't shoot less than 28mm often. So the 18-28 range to me is a little unused. I still want the wide end though, but if I have it, I may as well take a little more reach because that's what I really want. I use the 50-135 often and most times, it's between 50 and 100. So Pentax 17-70 or Tamrom 28-75 looks like a good fit.

I want a long lens in time for the spring migration. The Sigma 150-500mm is a possibility.

I bought resently K20 with 16-45 and 50-135. I'm very disappointed to the 16-45mm. Now, I'm making research for normal zoom or prime about 30mm. I'm going to to buy Sigma 10-20 or Tamron 10-24 for sure but apparently I need something to fill the hole between 24-50mm.

I think I want to add some quality reach to my kit with something like the DA* 50-135mm, but I'm worried that it's too heavy for backpacking...

I think it'd be a fun lens to own and play around with, especially since I seem to take so many shots with my DA* 16-50 at the 50mm maximum, but I don't know if I want to carry both of these juggernaughts around on my weekend trips.

I guess I'm only 25... I should probably just sack up and deal with it!

It's an awful lot to carry around for something that is still limited to 135mm. If I were you I'd be thinking DA55-300, or perhaps DA50-200 if you want to shave off even more weight. Backpacking implies a couple of things to me. Daytime, so you can be shooting stopped down to f/8 or so where you'd be unlikely to tell the difference between these zooms. Also, a good chance of wanting to shoot distant wildlife, where the extra reach will make far more difference than whatever difference there might be in IQ at these apertures.
