At times when i have the camera set to Av or manual mode i cant open up my apperture to f2.8 with my Sigma 17-70..Most it will go to is f3.5??.
lens a fully wide and with no zoom as i know it wont allow this at times when zoomed in..

Check to see if the electronic contacts on either your body or lens are dirty. This is usually the culprit.
