Well, delivery is scheduled for 1/8, so you can probably go watch the football game in the family lounge until then

My guess will be for the 50/2.8 Pentax SMC-A lens, at a very good price!

That would be my hope, but that would mean that both the 1:1 (vs 1:2) and the "M" (vs A) were entered wrong.

Is it more likely that it was a Sigma (in Pentax mount) and that the person entering it into the database put "Pentax" into both the "Brand" field as well as the "mount-type" field? But then, why the filter-ring @ 49mm?

(You'd think that I'd get enough data-integrity troubleshooting and parsing fun at my job, but no, here it bleeds over into my hobby...)

Adorama's used department doesn't know their butt from a biscuit. Twice I ordered FA lenses
from their used dept. and got F series lenses instead, and I'm hardly the only one this has happened to. Sheesh!

Well, to be fair, they are dealing with all the old lens lines and variants from all the different manufacturers, not just Pentax. I wouldn't personally know a Nikkor from a Holga, I just happen to know Pentax (as do most of us.)

They should be aware of the difference between F and FA, though...

Here, Helen - I'll volunteer to be your "Pentax Expert". They can run each lens through me and I'll identify it and immediately price it accordingly. My fee? 1 free Tak/K/M/A per month is all I ask.

(Adorama's a good vendor, though, foibles aside.)

Jeff

Do you still have any info related to these orders? If this happened a while ago, you need to know that there has been a little bit of 'staff turnover' in the Used Department in the past few months. The top guy in the used department is Joel - joelm@adorama.com and he is very hot on addressing issues such as this.
If these were recent orders, I'd be interested to have the order numbers so we can take a look at who in the used department might still be getting it wrong....

The other thing, is that the grading system for all Adorama used products has changed, again very recently;(I know that Adorama customers from a number of foums gave input to this):

Adorama rating system

N) New (Brand new)
All original packaging and manuals included.

D) Demo (Like New) 98-100% of original condition
Like New with little or no signs of use

E+) Excellent Plus 96-97% of original condition
May have slight wear, but only visible under close up inspection.

E) Excellent 90-95% of original condition
Lens Glass very clean - cosmetically may show slight wear and/or signs of use

E-) Excellent Minus 85-89% of original condition
Shows signs of moderate use - Lens Glass is perfect but may have some dust which will not affect picture quality

V) Very Good 75-84% of original condition
Appears well used and may include dings, brassing, scrapes and bruises but is in fully functional condition. Glass may have marks or haze that should not affect picture quality

G) Good 50-74% of original condition
Appears to have been used very heavily, with multiple dings, scrapes, scratches and heavy brassing. Glass may have fungus, excessive dust and/or scratches that can affect picture quality

F) Fair Item works with certain malfunctions. Read comments for exact malfunction details

X) For parts only

Accessories:
New – As Packaged by manufacturer
For all other grades – Instruction books, caps, batteries, cases, and straps are sold separately, except when specified

All digital cameras are packed with Battery and charger, except when stated otherwise.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely

Helen,

Thank you for your attention, it breeds confidence in you and your firm's integrity. We out here in on-line order land have precious little to go on when forming opinions on the probable customer service to expect from sales outlets, especially when it comes to used equipment.

Mostly we go by anecdotes put on line by displeased customers without the benefit of hearing the other side of the story.
