Maybe it's like the "Bigfoot Lens" - Paleantologists and Biologists have never seen any evidence, but the occasional layman encounters one.
Originally posted by newarts I have a 50mm 1:4 Macro Takumar that has a max magnification of 1:1, m42 mount. Perhaps that's what you'll get.

It is a dandy lens. I use it a lot.
That would be very sweet.
Originally posted by arpaagent There is a pentax 50mm lens f2.8 that goes 1:1. The F and FA series do this. I have the FA and it is AWESOME. You should hope that it is one of these!
It could very well be, but I think it's more likely a MF lens. The Adorama guy I talked to said that the person they had cataloging it was new and didn't speak English very well, so who knows what it could be.
I used to own the FA 50 2.8, sold it to get the DA 35, and yes, it's blisteringly sharp. I loved that lens.
If it's the AF or F, that's about a $280 - $380 lens - The A is probably $250. Any of the Taks are going to be at least $120, and even the Sigma is worth $100, so, yeah, I can't really lose....?
Strangely enough, this episode has made me more likely to cruise Adorama's site, now - who knows what else will pop up! (Loch Ness Monster?)
