2X Vivitar Macro Teleconvertor

Hey everyone I just stoped by the local camera store and picked up one of these 2X Teleconvertor Macro things for $20usd and boy did I save a ton. I have never heard of anything like this and asked if I could try it out and it turned my 18-55mm kit lens into a 100mm ish macro and it's realy really sharp. Any suggestions on use with this? A going price on how much this is worth would be very helpful to me since I believe I got a steal on something worth a lot more than a twenty spot. I also slapped on my 50mm 1.4 manual and it takes some of the sharpest macro shots I've seen.

Here are some pictures taken with it...

I think they look pretty good and all I strapped on was the 50mm 1.4 manual lens which made for some real fun DOF.

That is a good deal. Even better if it has the electric metering contacts. Prices on eBay are all over the place, but as your pictures show, it's worth far more than you spent.

Thanks guys and yes it does have the contacts the only thing it doesn't have is the drive for the focus motor but thats fine for me becuase I was willing to dish out $200 for a manual 100mm macro lens and now I saved myself 180 so now I can buy myself something else I need/want.

I have a screw mount version of one these converters. I mostly use it on my 135mm, but I've been wanting to give it a shot on my 50mm... Those shots are really nice by the way.

Hi, i'm getting a second hand Panagor 2x teleconvertor for k-mount (non screwmount..) in 2 weeks for 20 euros. Does anybody have experience with this convertor? Can i use it with any lens I own? How does it affect DA's autofocus abilitys? If possible, can anybody who owns the panagor post some pics taken with it?

Thanks!

Congratulations!

A reasonable price for the automatic version is around USD 60-100. The price fluctuates a little depending on the ususal level of hype, availability and the usual chances.

I think you can do a search here for

V2XMFTC

and get more info. The magnification scale is accurate when using a 50mm lens together with the converter.

V2XMFTC is a sort of nick name for this little thing and should of course be read as Vivitar 2x Macro Focusing Tele Converter. It comes in some different flavours where the scale showing the magnification level can be either in blue or green print.

For some time it was common knowledge that the PK fit version with green print for the magnification scale also supports A lenses (automatic aperture) and the version with blue print lacks the automatic aperture function.
Later there where some other reports so anyone wanting one should check out for the electric contacts. Auto apertures is conveniant as always, and with the K10D and it's whacky metering stopped down probably even better than before.

There is no auto focus version of the V2XMFTC but not many use AF when it comes to macro anyway. Better use the electronic preview.
