Thank you to everyone. This comes tomorrow while I am having eye surgery. I get my left eye back so I will no longer squint like Popeye

Hi, John...

Congratulations, and welcome. I've moved your Flektogon thread over to the SLR Lens section, so more members can see it and share comments. Enjoy!

Thank you for your patience. Someday I will get this right I am currently in hospital with my left eye temporarily patched until tomorrow but I have long coveted this lens and I purchased an m42 body to use it and of all the ones out there I chose the best in my opinion, the ES II

You're welcome, we're here to help. No worries on the location of the first post, moving it is easy enough, we moderators do it all the time.

The important thing is for your eye to be un-patched and healed up, so you can enjoy the new gear! Speedy recovery!

The lens arrived tonight by DHL and I was suprised by it's light weight compared to the SMC Takumar 28mm f3.5. I don't know much about it's construction but I chose this by it's reviews which are generally good and my price was $294 plus DHL shipping. His asking price was $309 but I offered $294 and by surprise he accepted it. Now I need to bribe my wife to go somewhere to use it. I had my eye surgery yesterday but the doctor was unable to finish. He said there was an unknown problem with the iris and the lens which had to be attached. Doctor speak left me with putting in eye drops 4 times a day. The lens was put in in 2014 during cataract surgery which I wanted for my target shooting at the time to 600 and 1,000 yards, I couldn't tell the doctor that though. I was astounded by the difference. seeing a tagboard color VS muddy white. Anyway I am anxious to use the new lens. I was going to buy the Takumar 35mm f2 untill I saw this and I have long wanted to use the Flektogon.

I want to mention how pleased I am with this most pleasant forum. There are some very talented members and I hope to see my Pentax family grow. I need to dispose of a bunch of other gear along the way.
Thanks, John in Albany, Oregon

Alas this lens appears to have a serious problem in it's mounting. It screws in then a hesitation and then screws in but the scale on the lens doesn't line up where it needs to be, compared to the Takumar lens. I am going to request a return and refund. Then I will look at the Super Takumar 35mm f2
Thanks, John

How far off is it? M42 lenses don't always get that perfect vertical alignment on the body. It's one of the reasons bayonets became the standard when aperture coupling came around.

This lens also doesn"t tighten up like the Takumar lenses

I found a nice Takumar SMC 35mm f3.5 after comparing it to the F2 lens. The lens I chose has the auto switch on the side

Hello again,

The lens is on it's way back - on Monday. I brought it to a local DHL pick up station. The seller cooperated. And thanks to all of you.

I got one of those Carl Zeiss Flektagons in our Camera Club auction for £1 -- nobody wanted it as it was M42 -- It does not have the 'RED MC' though so an earlier one.
