F*300/4.5 bargain?

I was watching this lens, but couldn't bid in the end because I was not a UK resident. Wow, looks like I really missed an oportunity.... Wow, what a bargain!

475 GBP looks like a very unfair price...

Yes, considering the actual rate of the British Pound, this would have been a great bargain if the seller hadn't been so dumb!

Maybe it will serve as a reminder to all eBay sellers: if you want your items to fetch good prices, never post auctions limited to one country only.

Cheers!

The pricing of that lens is going downhill. This price you quoted is still a little expensive ...

Why does this make the seller dumb? He simply does not want the hassle of selling out of his country. I see nothing wrong with this. It's his item and keeping it local does not make him dumb in any way. Your comment on the other hand...

I was disappointed that it was not bid, especially when I saw the final bid price. Wasn't this lens as good or better than the FA*?

In the review database the F* gets grade 10, while the FA* gets 9.33

Perhaps because the FA* has no tripod collar while the F* has a removable tripod collar.

F* 300mm f4.5 is more classic than Fa* version and the F* tripod mount is a bonus. Collectors are more likely to collect F* 300 lens as well. Personally F* 300mm f4.5 is better than Fa* version.

Thanks to lack of threads bragging about this telephoto. Da* 300mm f4 is taking its winning hat with that price tag.

A sad scene.

I think optically there is little to nothing between them (the F* and FA*)

But I always liked the build on the F*300 much more, it is a good looking lens ;-) Add to that a retractable hood and tripod collar and it beats out the FA* in my opinion..
