Eh, I guess I must have lucked out,
My 16-50 is amazing, it almost matches some of my primes in sharpeness and colour accuracy. (FA501.4, Tak 50 2.0)
Then again, I purchaced mine used, so I made sure it was a good copy

I bought a K10d today and they only had the kit in stock. I had wanted the weatherproofed better glass so I also bought a 16-50*. I did a quick and dirty a/b test between the kit 18-55 and the 16-50*. Half an hour later I took back the 16-50*. At least it saved me money to buy the macro that I'll likely use more anyway...

Guys OT.. is 16mm good enough for landscape photography.. Don't have enough money to buy the Superwide lenses.. Just need a walkaround at the moment that I can use for events and maybe landscape!

They tried, but it was defective. So they didn't finish the review.

I forget whom it was.

There are some good copies, but the quality control doesn't appear to be the best.

Photozone has tried twice to evaluate the DA* 16-50mm and both times there were terrible centering defects, so Klaus decided to pull the review.

Did you somehow miss the entire conversation in this thread?
No, not at all. The shop confirmed they were defective and that Pentax have had problems with it.

Well, I shipped mine back today. Not getting another. Going to replace it with the Sigma 18-50, which is what I was originally going to order.

DA* 16-50mm I think I got a good one!

I am far from a pixel peeper or a measurbater but with all the hubbub about the build quality of the DA*s I was a bit set off from buying one but I ran up on a deal that felt good so I jumped. They arrived today and after updating my firmware I decided to put the questionable one through a little test.

The brothers being guarded very closely...

I think it passed.

I dont have a brick house so I couldnt do a brick test for IQ and barrel distortion and vignetting so I will take it to work with me, tons of brick there.

Can you report your serial #? I want to see if the later batch actually gets rid of the QC problem.

Oh, I am not selling it, I have two bodies you know

My Tamron kit will be going on the K110D and the 28-75mm will still be my walk-around lens most likely... but only time will tell.

My serial number is 9011133. I got mnine used from a forum member.
