just got my 50-135*!!

Finally saved up enough money for the DA 50-135*!! I'm really excited because this is my first real step out of kit lens land. I got it in the mail yesterday. Took it out of the box and took a few test shots. Things are looking really good! I still need to get a chance to go out and take it through the paces. I will post some sample pictures as soon as I do

it crushes the kit lens, and is on-par with the ltd primes. Seriously.

Serious ??, I am debating on my next purchase. I have the Sigma 10-20, DA21, FA43, sigma 100-300 (sigma 1.4XTC) and Tamron 18-250. The sharpest lenses are sigma 100-300 at all focal lengths and the FA43 at f4-5.6.

I am considering a lens in the 70-200 range, but not too bulky. If I can possibly carry the sigma 100-300, I would, but it is just too darn heavy and bulky.

My choices are DA* 50-135, Voigtlander 125mm/2.5, Tamron 90mm/2.8 macro, FA77, DA70 or the older FA or F 125/2.8 or something else I am not even considering. Tamron/sigma 70-200 is almost as big as the sigma 100-300, so they are out. 50-135 is also bulky, but not as much and I also wonder whether it can render like the tamron 90mm, FA77 or DA70. Of the images I have seen on the web, the voigtlander 125/2.5 is the best, closely followed by the Tamron 90/2.5, FA 77,DA70, DA*50-135 which are all sort of bunched together...different in many ways but they are all very fine lenses...I am so confused. If only the 50-135 is a little smaller, as usage wise it would be ideal walk-around with my 21...

I managed to borrow the lens for 2 weeks and loved it! The biggest difference for me from the screw drive lens is how quiet it is! Like seriously, it's took a bit to get to used to the silence! And I didn't think it was too heavy on my camera, though once you have that huge lens hood on, it sure ain't inconspicious!

It is no secret that I love my 77ltd. My favorite lens. But when I shoot it back to back with the 50-135* I can have a tough time telling the difference. The 77 has a bit more pixie dust or something, but the 50-135* is on the same level. The differences are the extra speed of the 77 and the lighter weight. But the 50-135 can give you a lot of looks. It is right on the edge of what I'd consider to be a walkaround lens, but that is a personal thing. If I had to carry a zoom though, that is the one I'd want.
