I use both, but I find myself beginning to gravitate more towards the primes. Even if I were to get to the point where I use mostly primes, I'd definitely keep the zooms around for the times where a lot of lens changing isn't practical. I'm going on an outing with my photography club on Saturday and it'll be an all-prime outing.

Primes for urban/cityscapes/still life/concerts/portraits, zoom for planes and sport cars ...
If possible, i always manage to have at least a 24, a 43/50, an 85/100mm and a zoom with me ...

Best regards

Of my 5 regularly used lenses, 3 are zooms and 2 are primes. My 31mm LTD has been on my camera about 75% of the time since I got it a couple months ago, only being taken off when conditions required the use of a DA*. My only other prime is a 105mm Lester A. Dine macro lens which I use a LOT during the warmer months. More than any other lens probably.
My zoom selection includes the DA* 16-50mm and 50-135mm, as well as the Sigma 100-300mm f4.

For me, all of these lenses perform beautifully, and I generally find my zooms as capable as my primes. They all have their own distinct uses, and I'd say that overall my zoom lineup and prime lineup see about equal usage.
