90-105mm MF macro 1:1...?

Thinking of selling my FA 100mm macro..... (Send me a mail if u are from EU)

Donīt really use it very much, but do sometimes need the macro....

What is the best MF with a "A" setting...?

Is the Tamron MF SP 90mm F/2.8 MACRO 1:1 with an "A" setting...?

This is a bit of an odd thread. It seems like you are trying to sell the lens here as well as get advice on a new one.

You should break this thread up and offer the DFA for sale on the marketplace with a proper listing. Then ask for advice on a replacement lens. On that note I'd recomend the 105mm MF macro lens that is sold under Kiron, Vivitar or Lester Dine. A bit tough to find and sells around $400 but owners rave on and on about them. Check the database for reviews.

The "best" is always pretty subjective. I haven't made a study but I don't think there are many bad macro lenses in that range from the major makers. There should be a good selection to choose from. I have the Pentax A 100mm f/2.8 and think it is great. It doesn't show up often on EBAY and when it does it is quite expensive.

Selling a FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro is a seriously dumb idea.
It is so much better than the Tamron 90mm in my opinion.

I know its a good lens, but i hardly use it, and when i do its almost with f6 and up.... And when stopped down all the other macro`s is also pretty good....

Also almost use the lens in MF.....

I agree with Peter. If you can get on to a Vivitar 105 Macro, you will find its about as sharp as you can get. A top Macro lens, albeit MF.

I have to add the Voigtlander 125mm f2.5 Macro.
Its a little longer than your requirement but the best macro lens near 100mm focal range.

Not cheap though and only avaiable second hand.

2 for sale currently in the marketplace.

Cheers

Thanks i have seen those, but they are a bit to expensive.....

Found a Kiron 105mm f2.8 macro 1:1, that i`am trying to will on a auktion site.

Is there any differens from Vivitar, lester dine and Kiron....?

Are they the same..? Glass, build, sharpness ????

The 105mm Kiron / vivitar / Lester Dine (if the correct serial number) were, I believe, all made by Kiron and are optically identical while the bodies are slightly different.
For examples a Lester Dine will usually have Dental markings on the body to signify what magification should be used for certain dental shots.
I do not think there was a poor Kiron 105mm 2.8 macro made, I have the lester dine version and it is amazingly sharp.
It does have some weight, however I like that for hand holding but is true 1:1 situations a tripod is often needed.
