DA300 focussing?

Just picked-up a DA300mm and I have a question about focussing.

With K10D the SDM works fine. With *DS the screwdriver system works fine, but with Kenko 1.5 converter on the K10D, lens does not focus.
Should the screwdriver system not kick-in?

Thanks Take.

Not quite answers my question. I understand that without the special contacts, the SDM focussing will not work, and I accept that. But I cannot see why the screwdriver system does not take-over in this case?
