Tamron 28-300 (non-DI) "macro" flower

People often ask if the Tamron 28-300 can do macro. I have found it can get very close, but not what I think is true macro photography. Here is a shot I took this morning with the lens. I wasn't paying attention and it slipped to ISO 800 on me. But, you get the idea. I will try to do better next time. Maybe compare my experience with this versus slapping some closeup rings on my FA 50.
