K10D or K20D + DA* Focus

I have both the K10D and K20D and the DA*16-50 and 50-135. This past week I went to Yellowstone and I noticed that the lenses did not seem to be focusing in AF. Usually they were pretty snappy. Later I checked it again and found that the lenses were focusing very, very slowly and I mean glacially slow. They were hardly moving at all. MF worked just fine. Any ideas?

Could they have been affected by the cold or a sudden change in temps? Working fine now?

I wondered about that too, but later I checked when they were warmed up and it's the same. I also used these lenses in Yellowstone last winter and they performed beautifully in much colder temps. I'm going to call Pentax on Tuesday and ask their thoughts.

Does a fully charged battery make a difference?

It is rather strange that both lenses show the same behaviour.
But to think that it is the camera is also difficult to imagine, since the motor is in the lens.

You've probably already done this, but just in case you haven't...The contacts may need to be cleaned on the lens &/or the camera.
