The lenses do look promising.

The tonality of the first three images is fantastic. The portrait of Ned (good looking guy that he is helps ) really shows the ability of this lens to handle contra lighting and still retain detail and contrast without PF and CA.

Beach scenes show excellent contrast and saturation. Looks like a winning combination to me.

I have had both ordered since they were announced and hope they are worth the investment. Now, how about a high end camera body without nagging problems to go with it

And yeah, as one poster states....why not give us some EXIF data?

By the way Klaus tested the Tokina version of this lens here: Tokina AF 50-135mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX - Photozone Quick Test Report / Review

Pretty good I'd say. Hopefully the Pentax version is even better.

This is surely a lens to dream for. Much better than the prior testing shots posted.

Not really sure if the same optics in tokina version is applied to pentax counterpart...

Does look very nice, I did want this lens when it was announced, though having bought the DA70, I don't want anything to reduce its usage ;-)

I would love to see some Ned B. samples from the new DA*200..

James: Who knows how much of a difference the different coatings could make.. Also different manufacturing tollerances etc...

I suspected there is considerable difference in image rendering quality using various types of coating...

When I used Tokina 12-24 f4 on Canon mount SLR, the lens wide open is probably as sharp as pentax 12-24 f4 on Pentax SLR. But the major difference is the colour rendering! The contrast seemed lower with Tokina version and the colour less vibrant as well.

Pentax lenses will always be contrastier thanks to their SMC coatings which is still among the best out there.

Bojidar gives a much more thorough explanation here.
