Question about Pentax DA 40mm 2.8 and filters

Just ordered this lens online, i know it has screw mount lens cap- Does it take a regular fitting 49mm filter? if so , will the hood attach to it?
Thanks

I think the answer to your question is yes.

I keep the lens hood on this one all the time, it is so small that it doesn't matter. With the lens hood on, the front element is very well protected. In fact this one and the 70mm Ltd are the two lenses that I do not use a filter for protection og the front element.

If by regular fitting you mean 49mm screw in filter, than answer is YES, to both. 49 mm filters will easily screw into the filerthread and the lens hood will screw nicely onto it...
...but be careful how thick filter you will put between the hood and the lens! If it's going to be too thick it may cause some vignetting (I can't confirm this since I never use original hood with filters)

Yep, that's how it works.
The screw in hood will provide a lot of protection too if that's what you're thinking about.

It does take a 49 mm filter, but - if you're thinking of a more-or-less permanent UV filter, there is an alternative: you can screw a 30.5 mm filter into the hood of the lens, which then attaches normally - thus you avoid the extension caused by a conventional 49.
