Lens Problem

I picked up a Tamron 18-200mm LD Di II from a person in the marketplace
and It only works 1 or 2 shots then it quits working untill I turn off the camera and turn it back on, Then it will shoot a couple of shots and quits again. I tryed it on both my camera's and it does the same thing.
Has anyone had this problem with a lens? Or know a way to fix it?

Well, what do you mean that it stops working? Are you talking about the AF?

The camera won't take a picture at all, It makes a funny noise and nothing happens.

Does it work in manual focus mode? Maybe there is a problem with the AF drive, and the camera cannot complete focus and therefore not shoot.

It seems to work in manual focus.

Rub the contacts gently with a pencil eraser.
