DA 21mm + UV filter + lens hood -- help me?

i'm finding an info about DA 21mm.

i know: it is possible to put a UV filter 49mm, but then it is not possibile to put the original (and little) lens hood (=>vignetting).
it is right?

so i ask you: can you tell me info about a "not original pentax lens hood" good for DA21mm + UV filter 49mm?

("not original pentax lens hood" good = no vignetting and no too big)

idea?

Your best bet would be to get a 43mm UV filter, which will screw onto the backside of the little lens hood, which will attach to the lens itself. 43mm UV filters aren't that hard to find; you can get them at places like Adorama, B&H, and Fleabay.

I'm looking at a DA21 right now. You're right, a 49mm filter on the lens would block the included hood.

But, I see filter threads on the inside of the hood! Markings on the hood say 43mm, so that might be the thread size. You should be able to screw a filter onto the inside of that hood.

Yup, just confirmed it with the online manual. 43mm filters, attaching to the inside of the hood.

EDIT: Ooops too slow!

thanks for info.

i thought about a 43mm filter, but i think to use a 49mm UV filter Hoya S-hmc because it is a good uv filter.

and it is not avaible a good 43mm uv filter: Hoya S-hmc is avaible only from 49mm.
i want to put a good filter.
so where i can find a good 43mm filter?

or maybe i prefer to find a lens hood for 49mm uv filter...!

Here you go. But whoa! I didn't think a 43mm would be so expensive. I believe the B+W multicoated UV are considered at the top of the heap.

66023185 B + W 43mm UV (Ultra Violet) Haze Multi Coated Glass Filter, (2C) #010

but about you, there is not a good solution for 49mm uv filter?

for example:
DA 21mm + UV filter + empty 49mm filter (for lens hood)

While considering this lens for my next LBA episode I realized the hood/filter issue. My conclusion was to use a 49mm filter and try different folding rubber hoods (cheap!).

I got my 43mm Hoya multicoated filter from Adorama:
AD43UVGB Hoya 43mm UV (Ultra Violet) Multi Coated Glass Filter - Silver Mount

Sure, it's silver, but since it's mounted on the inside of the filter, it's not noticeable.

HOYA FILTERS - The Difference is Clear
43mm UV filter there is not!

do you remember the color label of the box?
green? black?

I have it (43mm, silver rim, HMC), and I never use it. PM me if you want to buy it.

I have the box right in front of me and it's silver.

I use a B+W 49mm metal screw-in hood with my 21mm. Works fine with any filter, including polarizers.

This is slightly on-topic: I have two 49mm metal hoods, purchased on ebay. They're cheap, but they don't look cheap and I'm slightly superficial. Rubber hoods look silly.

As for "B+W" lens hoods...that's just profane. My lens hoods are made by the renowned "Asian" company. All I can say is that, with some effort, I can put them on my lens.

EDIT: Gemini, don't buy a UV filter. They're probably a waste of money, if you're not shooting on film.
